I apprenticed at Sub Q in San Bernardino, and then worked with Frank Ball at Lucky 7. I went to Redlands and worked for Aaron Funk and Brent Vann at Tattoo Revolution. That was a big deal for me. I learned a lot about black and grey tattooing from Aaron and color tattooing from Brent. He even taught me about the color wheel. Working there was kick ass.
I worked for J Money 1 (aka Julius) at Paragon Tattoo in Moreno Valley, CA. It was competitive there, and I had to work hard. They were driven to do more impressive tattoos than each other, and it was good for me to work with guys who were always trying to push it to the next level.
I worked for Roger Trawick at Action Tattoo for three years. He taught me about composition and piecing things together. He was about doing nice solid tattoos without the extra bullshit and taught me to keep it simple.
I’ve been working at Classic Tattoo in Fullerton, CA since 2006. I’m working with Frank Ball again. It’s a cool shop, one of the nicest in Orange County. Everyone there does good work. I mostly am there to take walk-ins.
So, I also work at The Tattoo Room to be able to take my time and work on custom designs. I’m also able to spend more time working on my artwork.
My whole career, all I’ve done is go home and draw every night. I work hard to get better every day. I have no life, my only joys are boobs and burritos.
